IW Capital is a firm believer in the long-term growth potential of Britain’s rapidly expanding community of scaling businesses. With over 50% of UK businesses failing within the first five years due to a debilitating lack of finance, we have been providing scaling SMEs with much needed capital to ensure they are well-positioned to meet their full investment potential.
Guided by an executive team with over 50 years’ collective experience in SME investment, our company portfolio is sector agnostic and spread across the UK. We have proudly supported the transformation of companies like WeSwap, Brewhouse&Kitchen and BorrowMyDoggy from early-stage companies into leading industry brands. We offer two types of finance to companies – EQUITY and DEBT.
IW Capital provides equity funding for UK-managed unquoted companies across all sectors. Our focus is on investing £1 million to £2.5 million in eligible, qualifying & growing businesses. We have a strong preference to invest in profitable businesses, but we also back younger businesses and turnarounds where we can see a clear route to profitability.
We provide capital to support growth, management buyouts and equity release transactions:
Growth / Development Capital
We provide established companies with the necessary capital to facilitate organic or acquisitive growth
We provide strong management teams with the funding they need to purchase the business and take control of a private company.
Equity release/ Replacement Capital
We can help eligible business owners to diversify their wealth, enabling management shareholders to realise part of their capital whilst continuing to drive the business forward.
We believe in backing good management teams and their plans. We become supportive funding partners; we do not manage the businesses. Funding for every qualifying investment is sourced from our own client base of successful entrepreneurs and investors. This means that our portfolio companies may be able to draw on the contacts and expertise of our client investors.
We structure our investments to meet the needs of the investee companies, whilst providing a tax-efficient investment opportunity for our investors trough the Enterprise Investment Scheme.
Our senior debt offering provides SMEs with the necessary capital to meet a variety of funding needs, including asset purchase, acquisition financing, development capital, debt refinancing and working capital. We focus on providing senior debt facilities within a range of £500,000 to £2,500,000. Borrowers are generally stable, mature businesses, with a demonstrable record of cash generation. We have a strong preference to lend to profitable businesses, but will consider younger businesses and turnarounds where we can see a clear route to profitability.
