Thursday 6 April marked the beginning of the 2017/18 tax year. Unlike previous years, the coming 12 months take on added significant due to the number of new tax measures coming into force. Central to these new measures are changes to the Individual Savings Account (ISA) allowance, inheritance tax, income tax rates and personal allowance, which are set to affect millions of British taxpayers and investors.

For investors, it is important to keep up-to-date with the latest news and regulatory reforms to ensure a tax-efficient strategy that takes full advantage of the investment opportunities on offer. Boasting a team of financial experts, IW Capital provides its investor network with responsive advice and guidance on industry trends and regulatory changes across debt and equity investments landscapes.

The Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) is an ideal example of a model that encourages private investment into high-growth SMEs through tax reliefs. However, European state aid regulations have historically restricted the number of companies and investors that are able to access this scheme. With the triggering of Article 50 and the release of the Great Repeal Bill white paper last week, the Government can now review and repeal European state aid regulations so that the full potential of EIS can be realised. This week, our CEO Luke Davis was featured in Fund Strategy discussing the future of EIS in light of Brexit – click here to read the full feature.

Britain’s financial landscape has drastically transformed over the last couple of years. The rise in alternative finance platforms provides investors with the opportunity to inject much needed growth capital into Britain’s thriving community of scaling SMEs. At the same time, private companies are now able to overcome the stringent regulatory measures imposed by mainstream lenders through private debt and equity finance options. By offering debt and equity investment opportunities, IW Capital will continue to support scaling businesses across the country during this time of transformation.
