IW Capital sees in the new tax year

29th March 2018

2017 was a truly outstanding year for British business, and the first quarter of 2018 has continued in the same strong fashion. As we come to the end of the current tax year we are witnessing some of the most prominent changes to the investment landscape come to fruition – including the doubling of the EIS investment cap for knowledge-intensive companies and the launch of a consultation into knowledge-intensive funds.

As reported in the Vested Investor Index 2018, IW Capital’s first report of the year, Britain’s top taxpayers are looking for new ways to invest in the future of the country. The upsurge in tech-innovation – shown through the record levels of investment the British tech community secured in 2017 – and the rapid expansion of new-age sectors such as medtech, biotech and fintech, has meant there has never been a more diverse and comprehensive portfolio of investment opportunities propelling our growing private sector than that of present-day.

As the lead and primary investor in peer to peer travel money platform WeSwap, IW Capital is proud to have been at the front of this new wave of socially driven investing. In just four years, WeSwap has traded over £120 million as well as grown its user-base dramatically, expanding the range of currencies that can be exchanged on its platform and cementing its position at the forefront of UK fintech innovation.

IW Capital’s stellar portfolio of high-growth SMEs has been developed from a sector and location agnostic approach, driven steadily forward by a highly-skilled team of investment specialists who boast over 50 years in experience. With an unparalleled ability to scout the most prominent entrepreneurs and businesses that are defining tomorrow’s private sector, we hold great pride in some of the outstanding achievements delivered by all of our portfolio companies to date.

With 19 sites nationwide – 15 of which have opened in the past two years – 400 employees across the British Isles, and consistent profit-led growth, Brewhouse & Kitchen is a true representation of British entrepreneurialism and craft beer mastery at its finest. This growth has been supported throughout by IW Capital, who have so far invested over £5million into the company.
