Nearly half of Brits expect the small business sector to experience rapid growth in 2022

A landmark study from IW Capital has found that 47% of Brits expect the small business sector to experience rapid growth in 2022. Individuals are turning to small businesses post-pandemic because of the resilience and adaptability they have shown over the past few years.
The SME sector has shown some promising growth of late, with nearly half of UK small businesses now looking to provide employment opportunities by hiring new talent after a promising few months. SMEs account for 99.9% of the UK business population and have battled various obstacles over the past few years to register impressive growth throughout the last 12 months. SMEs now account for three-fifths of employment and nearly half of turnover in the UK private sector.
By adopting inventive strategies to stay profitable in a volatile business environment, small businesses have provided themselves with the best chance to make 2022 a prosperous year. With 16% of UK investors looking to back start-ups and newly formed businesses, it seems UK SMEs will be given a platform to continue their progression throughout the year.
While challenges do still exist for SMEs, such as rising inflation rates, the sector is confident that they will overcome them as one of the most innovative and ambitious eco-systems within the UK economy. Key to their success will be the support that the investment community shows to growing firms, especially through the Enterprise Investment Scheme.
Working with investors up and down the country, IW Capital has seen tremendous demand for SME investment opportunities and the ability to support growing firms in the sector.
