Impact Recycling Technology Powers New 50,000 Tonne Plastic Recycling Plant in Finland

Impact Recycling, a portfolio company of IW Capital, has licensed its patented technology to Syklo Group for a new recycling plant in Finland, marking the largest plant of its kind in the country.

Syklo, a Finnish circular economy company, focuses on keeping materials in circulation and producing high-quality recycled materials. The new plant is capable of processing 50,000 tonnes of plastic waste annually, increasing Finland’s national recycling capacity by 50% and cutting calculated greenhouse gas emissions by more than 100,000 tonnes of CO2eq each year.

At the heart of the plant is Impact Recycling’s patented BOSS technology, which plays a key role in sorting and processing difficult-to-recycle plastics, including black plastic, a material that has historically posed challenges for conventional recycling systems.

David Walsh, CEO of Impact Recycling, commented: “This is the largest deployment of our BOSS technology anywhere in the world, and it proves the platform at full industrial scale, on both rigid and flexible household waste streams. Our team delivered the design, engineering, commissioning, and training for this plant from the ground up, and seeing it now fully operational is an enormous milestone for Impact Recycling and for our licensing model.”
