Lucida Medical’s Pi™ Named in NICE Draft Guidance

Lucida Medical, has reached an important milestone, with its Prostate Intelligence (Pi™) named in draft guidance published by NICE, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence.

The draft guidance names Pi™ as one of five artificial intelligence technologies that could be used in the NHS to support radiologists assessing prostate MRI scans.

MRI plays a central role in the prostate cancer diagnostic pathway, but interpreting scans accurately and consistently can be challenging, particularly where specialist expertise is limited. With growing demand on NHS imaging services, tools that support radiologists in making confident, consistent decisions have the potential to make a real difference for both clinicians and patients.

NICE’s independent committee recognised the potential for AI technologies to improve the accuracy and consistency of prostate MRI interpretation, particularly in settings where specialist expertise is less readily available. Being named in the guidance is a significant endorsement of Pi™ and an important step towards wider adoption across the NHS.

The recognition follows recent real-world evidence presented at ESUR 2026, which showed that biopsy-confirmed significant cancer detection rose from 28% to 40% after Pi™ was introduced into routine clinical practice, alongside fewer negative biopsies.

Lucida Medical will continue working with NICE and NHS partners to generate further evidence for Pi™ and better understand its impact in routine clinical practice.

At IW Capital, we are proud to support innovative UK businesses developing technology that improves outcomes for patients and healthcare professionals. Lucida Medical’s inclusion in NICE’s draft guidance highlights the growing role AI can play in supporting clinicians and strengthening diagnostic pathways across the NHS.
