Lucida Medical expands AI pilot across Greater Manchester NHS Trusts

Could AI change how prostate MRI scans are assessed and prioritised across the NHS?

IW Capital-backed Lucida Medical’s Prostate Intelligence (Pi™) is now being rolled out across four NHS Trusts in Greater Manchester as part of a pilot funded through the NHS Cancer Programme and supported by SBRI Healthcare.

The pilot will evaluate how AI can support radiologists in assessing and prioritising prostate MRI scans, as well as examining its potential impact on the wider prostate cancer diagnostic pathway.

Lucida Medical’s Pi™ technology uses AI to analyse prostate MRI scans, supporting radiologists as they assess patients for suspected prostate cancer. The Greater Manchester pilot represents an opportunity to evaluate how this technology could be used within NHS clinical pathways.

As part of the wider SBRI Healthcare programme, NHS Greater Manchester joins a growing number of NHS regions evaluating the role AI could play in prostate cancer diagnosis and how innovative technologies can support healthcare professionals and patients.

At IW Capital, we are proud to back brilliant businesses developing innovative technologies that are helping shape the future of healthcare. We look forward to following Lucida Medical’s progress as the pilot continues.
