Reconome secures partnership with Cellnex UK

B Corp pioneer delivers 325 refurbished devices whilst avoiding 75 tonnes of carbon emissions in landmark enterprise collaboration

IW Capital’s portfolio company, Reconome, has partnered with Cellnex UK, Europe’s largest telecommunications towers and infrastructure operator, marking a major commercial milestone for the B Corp-certified technology refurbishment specialist.

Reconome partners with enterprise organisations to generate social impact and digital inclusion by repurposing and redistributing surplus IT devices. The company’s circular economy model addresses the dual challenges of electronic waste and digital exclusion, working with corporate clients to extend device lifecycles whilst delivering measurable environmental and social outcomes.

The Cellnex UK collaboration, delivered alongside IT provider Freestyle-TS and charity partner Good Things Foundation, has already achieved substantial early results: 325 devices refurbished and redistributed through the National Device Bank, 737kg of electronic waste diverted from landfill, and 75 tonnes of carbon emissions avoided – equivalent to the carbon capture of over 3,400 trees annually.

With 1.5 million people in the UK currently lacking access to basic computing devices, Reconome’s model addresses a critical infrastructure gap. The refurbished devices are being distributed to digitally excluded individuals across the UK, enabling access to employment opportunities, education and essential services.

Gianluca Landolina, Cellnex UK CEO, comments: “At Cellnex UK, we believe that access to technology is a fundamental right, not a privilege. We are committed to giving our used tech a second life—reducing e-waste and helping to bridge the digital divide.”

The partnership aligns with growing corporate requirements around ESG reporting, circular economy commitments and social value creation. Cellnex has become one of the first 100 UK organisations to sign the IT Reuse for Good Charter, recently launched by the UK Government’s Department for Science, Innovation and Technology alongside Good Things Foundation, VodafoneThree and Deloitte.

Strategic growth trajectory

Nick Rawkins, CEO of Reconome, says: “Our partnership with Cellnex and Good Things Foundation exemplifies successful outcomes: helping to bridge the digital exclusion gap whilst delivering measurable environmental benefits. We welcome valuable partnerships like this to unlock new opportunities for those who need them most, while cutting carbon and alleviating the footprint we have as organisations.”

The Cellnex partnership demonstrates Reconome’s ability to secure and execute enterprise-scale agreements with major European infrastructure operators. The company manages the complete refurbishment and redistribution process, providing corporate clients with quantifiable environmental and social impact metrics alongside secure and compliant IT asset disposition.

Reconome’s positioning addresses intensifying regulatory and stakeholder pressure on corporate environmental performance, combined with growing recognition of digital access as essential infrastructure. The company’s enterprise-focused approach and established partnerships with organisations including Good Things Foundation’s National Device Bank position it to capitalise on sustained demand for circular economy solutions in the IT sector.
